Task 15 – Our International Cooperation on Building-integrated Solar Technologies

IEA PVPS – International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Program Task 15: Enabling framework for the acceleration of BIPV

IEA PVPS Task 15 strategies are to support a growing market for BIPV products:

  • Presenting inspiring and educating examples of BIPV projects
  • Contribute to new business models
  • Gather experience from the application of new BIPV standards and prepare input to revisions and upcoming standards

Main goals for the Swedish team

The Swedish National Energy Agency together with their counterpart in the Netherlands initiated the project and have enabled a broad Swedish participation. Our goals are thus in line with the overall strategies of Task 15 outlined above. In the work on standards a specific goal is to correlate the swedish building code (PBL and BBR) to the new European BIPV standards. This way we can facilitate the development and introduction of new products on the swedish construction market.

Bengt Stridh at Mälardalens Högskola is project leader for the Swedish project team, whereas RISE Jessica Benson is leading subtask B dealing with new business models for BIPV and Peter Kovács is working on standards and related topics. Project participants represent four different organizations (RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, MDh, Solkompaniet and White Architects) with complementary backgrounds.
